Good Track Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
Good Track is a golf journal for iPhone and Mac: your rounds, the courses you play, the people you play with, and the next round. This policy explains what information Good Track handles, where it goes, who can see it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it the way we'd want it explained to us.
Good Track is made by Nicholas Bridle ("Good Track", "we", "us"), Hampton, NH, United States. You can reach us at support@goodtrack.golf.
The short version
- Your golf is yours. Rounds are private unless you choose to share them. Your notes are never shown to anyone.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. The app has no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell or rent your information.
- A lot happens on your device. Writing with Apple Intelligence, reading tee-time emails, scanning scorecards and importing your golf history all happen on your iPhone or Mac.
- You can delete your account from Settings at any time, and that deletes what we hold about you.
What Good Track collects
If you browse without an account
You can search courses and read course pages without signing in. Good Track talks to our server for things everyone sees, like course pages and the featured course on the Clubhouse. Those requests don't include who you are, your device's identifiers, or your location. A few things you do while browsing, like the courses you save, are kept only on your device until you sign in.
If you create an account
Accounts use Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, we receive:
- an identifier from Apple that is unique to Good Track, and
- your email address, or an Apple private relay address if you choose to hide yours, and
- your name, the first time you sign in (if you share it).
We use your email address for your account. We don't show it to other golfers and we don't send you marketing email from the app.
With an account, we store on our servers:
- Your profile: display name, username, bio, profile photo, home town, home and favorite course, handicap (self-reported), the links you add, and your privacy settings. If you give us a first and last name, they're kept private and never shown to others.
- Your rounds: the course, date, score, hole-by-hole scores, tees, notes, ratings, conditions, the price you paid, playing partners, review drafts, and planned or booked tee times, including booking details you enter.
- Reviews and ratings you post about courses, and earlier versions of them.
- Your lists: played, Want to Play and favorite courses, rankings, tags and course lists.
- Photos: your profile photo, and one photo per round if you choose to show it in the Feed. We remove location and camera details from photos before they're uploaded. Other round photos stay on your device.
- Social activity: who you follow and who follows you, people you block, and reports you make about content.
- Guests: the names of playing partners who aren't on Good Track. We store names only, never contact details.
- Tee-time emails you forward to Good Track (see below).
- Good Track Pro purchase records (see below).
If you claim a course
If you work at a course and ask to manage its Good Track profile, we keep the name, job title, work email and phone number you give us, so we can verify you and run the course's account. Only you and the Good Track staff who review claims can see them. If your claim is verified, the course's other staff see your name and username on the course's team. We keep a record of changes made to a course's official information and team, without your contact details. These details are deleted with your account.
A course's official information (like its phone number, booking link or rates) is labeled as coming from the course. Courses can't edit, remove or influence golfers' reviews, ratings, scores, reported prices or anything else golfers contribute.
Tee-time emails
If you forward a booking confirmation to your Good Track address, our email service, Postmark, receives it and passes it to our server. We keep only the subject and the text of the email, never attachments, and only for you. The email is read on your device by Apple Intelligence, not by our server. We delete it from our server when you save, cancel or dismiss it, or after 14 days, whichever comes first. Postmark keeps its own copy for about 45 days.
Purchases
Good Track Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or payment details. To confirm your purchase, the app sends us Apple's signed record of the transaction, and we store the transaction identifier and its status (for example, if it was refunded).
What we don't collect
- No advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- No access to your contacts. When you pick a playing partner or invite someone, you choose them in Apple's contact picker. Good Track receives only the person you picked, and keeps only their name. Phone numbers and email addresses are used only to address the invitation you send from your own device.
- No location tracking. See "Location" below.
- No golf-handicap service logins. Good Track doesn't connect to GHIN.
How we use your information
We use it to run Good Track for you: to keep your rounds and profile, sync them to your devices, show your golf to the people you choose, build the Feed, passports, stats and recommendations, write review drafts when you ask, confirm Pro, keep the community safe (blocks and reports), and answer you when you contact us.
We also use ratings, reviews and prices from many golfers together to show course scores and typical prices. A course's typical price appears only once at least five golfers have reported one, and it shows a middle value, never one person's price.
Who can see what
You decide, and the defaults lean private:
- Rounds are visible to only you unless you choose Followers or Everyone for a round.
- Notes are never shown to anyone else.
- Planned and booked rounds, booking details and what you expect to pay are never shown to anyone else.
- Guest names (partners not on Good Track) are never shown to others; they see a count.
- Your profile is public by default: your name, username, bio, photo and counts can be seen by anyone, along with your home town and handicap if you choose to show them. You can make your profile private, so only approved followers see your rounds, Foursome and activity. You can also hide your scores, rounds, location and activity separately.
- Your profile photo is visible wherever your name appears, even if your profile is private.
- Your email address, sign-in identifiers, and first and last name are never shown to anyone.
- Blocking someone hides you from each other.
- Share cards are made on your device and go only where you send them.
If another golfer tags you in a round, you can remove yourself from it.
Writing your reviews
By default, Good Track writes review drafts with Apple Intelligence on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
With Good Track Pro, you can choose a cloud writing engine instead: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google (Gemini). Good Track never switches to one on its own, and asks your permission, naming the company, before it sends anything to a provider for the first time. You can withdraw that permission in Settings. When you use one, our server sends that provider what's needed to write the draft:
- your notes
- the course's name and facts
- the date, score, holes and tees
- conditions, ratings and the weather
- the names of your playing partners, unless you turn on "Keep partner names private" for the round
We don't send your email address, account or device identifiers. The provider returns a draft, which you can edit. Good Track never posts a review for you.
We don't keep the text after the draft is written. Each provider handles that text under its own terms and privacy policy.
Services that handle data for us
We use a small number of service providers. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Render (United States): Hosts Good Track's server and database. Receives: everything stored with your account.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, maps, and Apple Weather. Receives: sign-in and purchase details; for weather, only the course's location and the date.
- Postmark: Handles tee-time emails you forward to Good Track. Receives: the forwarded email.
- Anthropic, OpenAI, Google: Cloud review writing, only if you choose it (Pro). Receives: the text described in "Writing your reviews".
- Squarespace: Hosts our website, goodtrack.golf, and early-access sign-ups. Receives: the email address you enter on the website, and the website's visit information (see "Our website").
- Google reCAPTCHA: Stops spam on the website's sign-up form. Receives: information about your browser and how you use the form, under Google's privacy policy.
- Google Workspace: Our email. Receives: messages you send us.
Course information comes from OpenStreetMap contributors via OpenGolfAPI. We send them nothing about you.
We may share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Good Track, in which case this policy would continue to apply to your information. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
Device permissions
Good Track asks only when you use the feature:
- Location (while using the app): to find courses near you. For "Worth the Drive" recommendations (Pro), the app sends us your approximate location, rounded to about a kilometer, for that search only. We don't store it. Good Track never uses your location in the background.
- Camera: to take a photo for a round or scan a scorecard. Scorecards are read on your device; the photo isn't kept.
- Photos: you choose photos with Apple's photo picker, and Good Track can save a share card to your library when you ask.
- Contacts and Calendar: Good Track uses Apple's own pickers and New Contact or New Event screens, so it never gets access to your contacts or calendar.
How long we keep information
- Your account information is kept until you delete your account.
- Tee-time emails: on our server, until you save, cancel or dismiss them, or for at most 14 days. Postmark's copy is kept for about 45 days.
- Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days.
- Cloud writing: we keep a count of how many cloud reviews you've written each month, not the text.
- Server logs record events like errors and response times. They don't include your notes, reviews, emails or purchase details. Our hosting provider also keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses and the addresses of pages requested, for a limited time.
- Purchase records: if you delete your account, Apple's purchase notifications we received are kept without any link to you, so refunds and restores keep working.
Deleting your account and your choices
- Delete your account in Settings ‚Üí Account ‚Üí Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile, rounds, reviews and their history, ratings, prices, photos, lists, follows, blocks, reports you made, guests, invites, tee-time emails, and any course claims and course team memberships from our servers, and asks Apple to disconnect Sign in with Apple. It also clears your account's data from the device you delete it on.
- Other golfers' records: if another golfer added you to their own rounds as a guest by name, that's part of their records and stays with them. If you were a tagged golfer, your tag goes with your account.
- Change what others see at any time in your profile's privacy settings or on each round.
- Questions, corrections or a copy of your data: email support@goodtrack.golf. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your information, and to object to some uses. We'll honor those requests, and you won't be treated differently for making one.
Security
Connections to our server are encrypted. We store only a scrambled (hashed) form of sign-in sessions, and your device keeps its session in Apple's Keychain. Photos have their location details removed before upload. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and collect as little as we can.
Children
You must be at least 16 to use Good Track. Good Track isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Where your information is kept
Good Track's servers are in the United States. If you use Good Track from another country, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.
Our website
Our website, goodtrack.golf, is hosted by Squarespace. If you sign up for early access, we keep your email address only to tell you about Good Track, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
Squarespace sets a few cookies to run the site and to count visits (for example, which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors come from). We see only totals, not individual visitors. The sign-up form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam. The website has no advertising cookies and doesn't share your visit with advertisers. You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, and the site still works.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
